From Sirkeci to the Spice Bazaar: follow the trading streets

Walk from the station area toward Eminönü to see how transport and market life meet in the old city.

Treat Sirkeci as a practical arrival point: Metro İstanbul's rail network map marks Sirkeci on the Marmaray corridor. From the station area, walk toward Eminönü and the waterfront to reach the Spice Bazaar. Go Türkiye says the bazaar was built in the 17th century as part of the New Mosque complex and is known for spices, tea, dried fruit and other food products.

You do not need to shop to enjoy the visit. The arrangement of stalls, variety of goods and small surrounding shops offer a glimpse of the area's trading culture. If you buy food, ask about ingredients and carrying conditions, and take time before deciding. Market activity continues in the lanes outside the bazaar too. Before choosing your return route, check current ferry or rail information with the operator; routes and timetables can change.
